New Kidblog Themes

Kidblog is a great for elementary and middle-school age students. If you want to get your students blogging, this is a cool tool and it’s FREE. When I first discovered this site a couple of years ago, I thought it would be great to have my lab students learn the concept of blogging. The only downfall I could find at the time was the one-theme template. Now, they have 4 themes which gives the teacher a better variety and they’re working on more themes for the near future. Kidblog allows your students to publish posts and participate in discussions within a secure classroom blogging community. Teachers maintain complete control over student blogs.

Need copyright-friendly images for your next school project? Pics4Learning has a nice collection of images just for teachers and students. Images have been donated by teachers, students and amateur photgraphers just for you. Use their Browse by Topic link or search for that perfect picture and make your projects stand out.

Fraboom is a very cool online museum for kids of all ages with great interactive books and really fun games.

Arcademic Skillbuilders

My past students absolutely loved this site. Arcademic Skillbuilders is educational fun with healthy dose of competition. It focuses on math and language arts areas but there are some geography and typing games as well. Students may compete against each other in groups up to four or students can work alone.

Online Learning Math plus Science

Online Learning Math dot com is for parents, teachers and educators’ You’ll find loads of materials for teaching.Be sure to check out the Interactive Zone for dynamic online worksheets, exercises and other simulations.  

GameUP with Brainpop

With Brainpop’s GameUP, games are challenging and step into the middle school and high school realm. This is exactly what you want your students to do - think and process the concepts being presented. The game section is organized to correlate with their videos - make a whole lesson around one of the games and then let them play the games!

EcoKids Science

EcoKids Science has awesome environmental education games and activities and great resources for teachers such as lesson plans and a literacy corner.

Study Island Motivation Form & Login Cards

After listening to a Study Island Webinar and learning of their Student Motivation Form, I decided to create one for the teachers at Southwest Schools. Study Island will send you a MS Word document so you can edit their form but I’m a lover of PowerPoint.
